HISTORY In 2002, our area was re-zoned as a Corridor Design District which allows developers to come in and apply for projects under “Special Permits”. “Special Permits” is another name for building under State Statute 8-30g which includes “Affordable Housing” as part of their projects. Applying under this, developers can circumvent all local zoning regulations and build whatever they like. For example, they can build a sky scraper in a neighborhood of residential homes.
