Minutes of the Wildemere Beach Association General Meeting May 10, 2005   Wildemere Beach Congregational Church

Carol Klingele called the meeting to order at 7:10 p.m.

Introductions - Carol Klingele welcomed the members of the association who then introduced themselves.  Approximately 34 members were in attendance.

Treasurer’s report – Carol K. reported (for Lynn Garand) that there was a balance of $942.00 in the treasury.

Website update - Bob Rudd will be working on the website

Meeting with Mayor Richitelli - Carol K. reported that her discussion with the Mayor, indicated that he is committed to beach replenishment, as is Jim Amann, our State Representative, who is now Chairman of the House.  The Mayor noted that the DEP will not allow the removal of the wood pilings.  He stated that the deteriorating galvanized storm drains located at the ends of streets and right-of-ways to the beach will be removed from Ann Street to Laurel Beach.  Removal should begin after Memorial Day.

Flags/Banners - SBC have given permission for the use of their poles to hang flags. After discussion, members supported the installation of 6 flags.

Sand Replenishment - A question was raised about the safety of the sand from the Housatonic River.

Barbara Cappetto reported that numerous test results indicate that the sand is safe.  It is important that we contact our elected officials to tell them of our support for beach replenishment.

Wildemere Beach Park – Marcia Ivers and Sharon Poole gave an update on the progress of the park.

They have selected bronze colored aluminum fencing.  The owner of the new home adjacent to the park has agreed to contribute to the cost of the fencing.  Members are asked to donate plants to supplement and enhance the landscaping of the park.  Members may participate in a planting day which will be arranged when appropriate.

Wildemere Beach Attire – Carol Klingele is getting prices from LLBean, utilizing our logo (designed by Jim Williams), for hooded, quarter-zip and crewneck sweatshirts, s/s polos, l/s polos and baseball hats.  She will let us know when we can order them.

Holiday Party - Lynn Garand has made arrangements for our annual Holiday Party which will be held on December 9th from 6 to 9 p.m. at Harborside Bar and Grill in Stratford.  .

Clean Energy
Tom Ivers reviewed Milford’s Clean Energy Project.  Residents who are interested may participate.  Tom distributed flyers which explain the project and how to sign up.

Walnut Beach Association
Joe Puzzo attended the Walnut Beach Association meeting.  He reported that the “Prospect Apartments” planned by D’Amato Brothers would be seeking approval by the Planning and Zoning Commission on May 17th.  Since these units are high density, it is important that members attend the meeting to express their concerns.  The Walnut Beach buildings (Ron Lombard) on Broadway/Naugatuck/Joy/Monroe Streets are scheduled for demolition shortly.  Construction should begin thereafter.
Picnic – Olin Hoover volunteered to chair the WBA picnic on September 10th.  Please contact Olin if you would like to help.
The meeting was adjourned at 8:25 p.m.
Respectfully submitted,Connie Pino
